How to identify the operating frequency of your system
The operating frequency can be found on the identification label printed on the back of the original handset as follows: models 750E, 751E etc. = 27Mhz models 4180E, 4185E etc. = 418Mhz models 4330E, 4335E etc. = 433Mhz 94330E, 94335E etc. = 433Mhz rolling code
418Mhz and 433Mhz Chamberlain motor units have an aerial wire approx. 40cms.in length.
Approximate guide by year of manufacture:
Chamberlain's current 433.92Mhz rolling code system
was introduced in 2004 and is used on the following door operators:
ML700, ML750, ML850, HC100ML, HC300ML, HC400ML, HC500ML, HC600ML, LM60,
LM80,
LM800,
LM1000, LM3850ASA, 5580 & RDO800
The original Chamberlain 433.92Mhz system was introduced during 2001. Operators fitted with the 433.92Mhz radio system have a label displaying '433'
or a model number with the suffix '433'
The 418Mhz frequency was used from aprox. 1997 to 2001, the model number of these motor units had the suffix 'UK', '418' or 'EGB-418'. These transmitters are discontinued so a
radio
system upgrade
is required.
Note: The 418Mhz frequency was withdrawn from public use by the Home Office in December 2007 and re-allocated to the European TETRA radio system for the emergency services. (see the Radiocommunications Agency website for details)
27Mhz operators (manufactured pre 1997) Chamberlain models: 350E-2, 3750E and 'smart learn' models: 420E, 4210E & 5250E manufactured before 1997 operated on the 27Mhz frequency and had a receiver aerial wire aprox.
220cms long attached to the motor unit. 27Mhz Chamberlain handsets
measure 102mm x 53mm and use a 9 volt PP3 battery.
Note: very early Chamberlain operators used Alltronik remote
controls, these will require
a radio
system upgrade.
Can't Identify your system? If you are unable to positively identify which type of remote control transmitter was originally supplied with your operator from the information above, or your original transmitter is discontinued, our radio
system upgrademay be used as this system is suitable for all models regardless of the original radio frequency.
Security Code System
Chamberlain 418Mhz & 433Mhz transmitters are factory pre-programmed to one of 3.5 billion codes and the system features a 'smart learn' receiver capable of learning the unique security codes of up to 8 separate handsets
Programming Procedure 1. Locate the 'learn' button on the casing of the motor unit and press it briefly. (green or orange button) The learn indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds. 2. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the hand-held remote that you wish to operate your garage door. 3. Release the button when the opener light blinks. It has learned the code. If the light bulb is not installed, two clicks will be heard.
Clearing the memory(advisable if a handset has been lost or stolen) Locate the 'learn' button on the casing of the motor unit and press and hold the button until the learn indicator light goes out (approximately 6 seconds). All previous codes are now erased. Reprogram each remote or keyless entry pad you wish to use as described above
Chamberlain 27Mhz remotes
Model 420E, 4210E & 5250E garage door operators have a green 'smart learn' button for programming and these operators will accept model 750E factory pre-programmed 27Mhz single channel handsets (to control one door) as well as the alternative multi-channel handset models 752E (two channel) or 754E (four channel)
If you have an older pre 'smart learn' operator such as model 350E-2 or 3750E you will require a user programmable handset with a nine way tri-position DIP switch inside to enable your unique security code to be set to match the code in your existing hand transmitter handset models 751E, (single channel) 752E (two channel) or 754E (four channel)
